Claire is not a likable character by any stretch of the imagination. I could not root for her to win. I absolutely wanted her to fail miserably.
The whole story is hard to fathom and there were many plot holes and obvious missteps that any reader would have picked up on. Why bring a stranger into your home with her new baby and the background check wasn’t completed and, all the appropriate information needed for her to be paid, was also not given?
When you have money like the Carters, you vet everyone who enters your circle and especially those entering your home.
The backstory between the Carters and Claire is a curve ball that I think could have been written differently. Why would a grown woman hold a grudge for so long and then blame all of their life woes on this one person?! That is so far-fetched.
April, the roommate, is the only character I was rooting for. I wanted her to run off into the sunset and live happily ever after. She was sweet, understanding, and forgiving – all qualities that Claire was not.
Harvey, rich and powerful men get divorced everyday B, and no one cares. With his money, another woman will be waiting at the courthouse for the ink to dry on his divorce papers.
Lackluster plot twist. Dry storytelling. Characters with no value.
One-Word Summary: Awful
