Book #2: Nik & Carlos’ Story – The Proposal
Maddie is Alexa’s very best and oldest friend in the whole wide world except, when Maddie’s world collides with Alexa’s best work friend (in the whole wide world), Theo – the romance begins.
There is not much to say about this book, if you’ve read any Jasmine Guillory books, they all have the same formula:
Girl Meets Boy -> Girl and Boy are Hot & Heavy Every Chance They Get -> Boy Says Something Stupid and Girl Gets Mad -> An Arugment Insues -> Boy Makes up To Girl -> They Realize They’re Madly In Love -> They Live Happily Ever After
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Maddie and Theo had an unsuspecting attraction to each other and all it takes is a little bit of alcohol and those two, try their hand at romance. After one hot & steamy night, they vow that it can never happen again. But what did Brandy teach us, Never Say Never. So of course, these two embark on a secret romance for a year meanwhile, they’re both a part of Alexa’s wedding party and are often forced to be around each other at wedding events. But no one is supposed to know, especially not Alexa *eye roll*.
If I’ve said it once, I’ll forever say it… Jasmine Guillory writes for the Disney princess in all of us girls. These stories are so far from reality but, so cute and fun. Lots of sex being had but she doesn’t write graphic smut – and she makes sure to mention that these consenting adults are using condoms.
Final Thoughts: I don’t like secret romances, especially when everyone is a consenting, SINGLE, adult. I could not get behind not telling Alexa, for what? There was never a real, valid reason for not telling her. Maddie just didn’t want people to know so that she could continue to hide her feelings and not think of this as a real relationship – that’s so immature. They weren’t very “secretive” so again, what was the reason? (in my Cardi B voice). This was a cute read and I’m always going to support Guillory, and you should too.
