Reading Recap: July 2023

No New Books

This month, I said that I wasn’t going to buy any *new* books. My goal was to read the books I currently had on my shelves and/or use up some Audible credits that I had accumulated.

We’re over the hump, right? As we close out July, we’re officially in the second half of the year. Soon, the leaves are going to disappear, the sunlight is going to creep below the horizon sooner, and the earth is going to chill out — the heat of July has been boiling in my area, don’t know about you.

I’m 57 books in this year and only 3 books away from my 60-book goal. In all of my adult life, I have not ever had the reading velocity that I have at this time and I hope to keep it going. Reading has been a great escape; it has kept me from doom-scrolling on TikTok or online shopping — rather, putting a bunch of things that I don’t need into multiple online shopping carts and never checking out. Let’s check out what I read in July.

I’m diving back into reading and taking my time to really enjoy each book—soaking up the writing, analyzing the characters, and seeing what makes a story stick (or miss the mark). Right here is where I write honest, no-fluff reviews.
