Reading Recap: May 2025

plot twists & libby lists

Remember when I told y’all Google said it takes 66 days to build a habit? Well, I’m 78 days in and I’ve only bought two books. That’s growth, right?

This month, it felt like every single one of my Libby holds came through at the exact same time (rude). I didn’t even glance at NetGalley, and the ARCs I requested? Nothing but crickets. Still, I’m not mad at my reading pace—I took a solid 10-day break around Memorial Day to spend time with family. I wanted to be present, not buried in a book… plus, let’s be real: my sleep schedule was all over the place. Even if I had cracked open a book, I would’ve passed out mid-paragraph.

I thought May would be my memoir/autobiography month. I was inspired to dive into Matriarch by Tina Knowles and even put in a Libby request… but patience? Never heard of her. I grabbed the hardcover at Barnes & Noble instead. While I was there, Tell Me Lies by Carola Lovering somehow fell into my hands—I’m obsessed with the Hulu series and had no idea it was based on a book. So now I’m on a mission to finish it before season 3 drops… and yes, I’ll be rewatching 1 & 2 with my newfound context.

But enough about my TBR tangents. Here’s what I actually read in May…

I’m Whitney

I’m diving back into reading and taking my time to really enjoy each book—soaking up the writing, analyzing the characters, and seeing what makes a story stick (or miss the mark). Right here is where I write honest, no-fluff reviews.
