In 1983, Kit McDeere becomes the caregiver for Lenora Hope, the prime suspect in the infamous 1929 Hope family murders. Kit's obsession with the case leads her to suspect Lenora's innocence. The story is filled with quirky characters and a slow-burning plot that culminates in a lackluster ending. Despite the excessive descriptive words, the book offers a genuine portrayal of 1980s dialogue. A compelling murder mystery with a disappointing conclusion, it's a good choice for fans of Riley Sager's writing.
